WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT AND CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU ON THE PARADE ROUTE!

Black Joy Parade is on Sunday, February 27, 2022. The parade begins promptly at 12:30pm and lasts approximately an hour and a half. The festival begins at 12pm and ends at 7pm.

Both the parade and festival are free to enjoy, and the main entrance into the festival is 20th and Broadway Streets.

ASSEMBLY AREA AND CHECK IN

The assembly area for Black Joy Parade 2022 is located on 14th Street from Clay St to Broadway. 
The hours of operation are 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Please do not arrive at the assembly area outside of these hours, as we will not be able to accommodate you.

All contingents will need to send one (1) representative from their group to 14th Street and Clay Street with this parade packet and the unique QR code included in your “Day of Parade” email. 

Your unique QR code will provide you with your parade placement and specific location within the assembly area at check in.

Check-in begins at 10am. 

It will be up to the representative of your group to communicate your assembly area location. 

Vehicles will not be permitted within the assembly area unless they are a part of your contingent. We suggest your entire contingent meet outside the assembly area and walk in as one large group to avoid confusion. 

To ensure the safety of all of our volunteers, viewers, and other contingents, please follow all directions provided by Black Joy Parade staff. 

PARADE ROUTE

The parade begins at 12:30 sharp and will kick off at 14th St and Broadway St. All contingents will be out of the assembly area no later than 1:30 pm. The parade will end approximately between 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm. The route is on Broadway St. between  14th St and 20th St. 

The “Best in Flow” judges will be located at Latham Square, so make sure to give them your best performance! 

END OF PARADE

The parade will end at Broadway and 20th Streets. All marchers and walkers in your contingent will be required to turn and make a right on 20th Street into the  festival area. 

All vehicles will be required to continue straight through the intersection of Broadway and 20th Streets and exit the parade route at 21st and Broadway Streets. If you have individuals who need to exit your vehicle, please pull to the right of the street between 20th and 21st Streets to allow other vehicular traffic to continue. If you have animals in your contingent, you will be required to make a left on 20th Street towards 20th Street and Telegraph Street. 

No vehicles will be permitted to park on Broadway Street. All contingents who registered their vehicle will be permitted to offload and park their vehicles in the Paramount Theatre parking lot, located at 2029 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612.
